Gallian Army Construction Report No 26 - Tick, Trick and Truck

Hello everyone,

I have to admit: the joke in the headline only works in German. But who cares? Time to unveil what I have been working on all morning … and the day before … and the day before … and so on.

I know what you are thinking! And you are right! The truck is finished. Or let’s say … almost. The oranges on the vehicles cabin doors didn’t come out that good and there are some minor adjustments to make, but the overall picture is already nice.

For comparison: This is the original

And this is mine:

Yes, I know: the green color looks a bit darker and not as beautiful as the original. Right, but I tried several times and that was the closest I could get. And to be honest: it doesn't look too bad at all.

I guess I need some North Gallian peasants. Would look very cool I think.

That concludes today’s update. Stay tuned for more.

See ya on the next update!

Take care

US Navy Carrier Strike Group - Part II

Hello everyone,

Time to update my US Navy Carrier Strike Group, because the first units are finished. I don't know what takes me so long because I wanted to them "fast", but who cares? Gallia at the moment is more interesting for me.

So - here we go.

The first destroyer squadron, consisting of four Mahan class destroyers:

Those guys are meant to later guard the aircraft carriers of which I currently possess two.
The first one, USS LEXINGTON, CV-2, is also finished.

And the big boy with his escort:

A neat fleet.

That's all for today.

See you on the next update!

Take care

Gallian Army Construction Report No 25 - house and flag

Hello everyone,

It’s about time to post another update from the Gallian front.

During the last days I decided to plan the first steps of converting the building into a half-timbered house. In my opinion that makes it fit way better to the design of Valkyria Chronicles than leaving it in this … undefined state it currently is in.
So I scratched the outline of some framework onto the walls of the building. It isn’t perfect at all but the aim is already visible. I just have to figure out if I use some stuff to make the framework more visible or try to achieve this goal just by using color.

Inspired by a flag tutorial on a German website, I then decided to do flags for some control points.
My first goal is to finish a banner like those being used for the home bases of the opposing forces in the game as well as three “normal” base flags.

I know. Those look like transmission towers, but as I never saw those in the game or the anime of VC before, I will convert them into flagpoles.
First of all, all this “useless” stuff had to be removed.

After that I went on finishing the base of all transmission towers/flag poles, but didn’t do a photo of the result. I just forgot about it when I decided to also do 8 JGSDF soldiers. Sorry.

But ... it doesn’t matter now!

Then I started to look for usable flags on the Internet, but found none. So it was time to remember my “skills” in photo manipulation and drawing and make my own flags. After half an hour of try and error, I was done. Looks like this now:

I did one in order to try out if the whole design works. If it does, there will be more.

That’s all for now.

See you on the next update!

Take care

Another Elysian Trooper and Balalaika finished

Hello everyone,

Another interlude ^^

I just managed to finish another SciFi soldier. I don’t know where all this energy is coming from, but I think I should use it as long as I am motivated to do some painting :-D
Hm ... really need to start this US-Navy fleet I already wanted to work on.

Oh, yeah … I almost forgot: Balalaika is finished, too.

And that's all for now.

See you on the next update!

Take care

Gallian Army Construction Report No 24 - Engineer and truck

Hello everyone,

Gallian truck now has its base coat.

After having done a lot of stuff to find all immediate design flaws and correct them, I not only managed to apply the base coat but to also finish the base that is itended to later stabilize the whole vehicle.

Well. In the aftermath I realized I had forgotten to put windows into the drivers cabin as well as do some more work on the front axis. Booooh

But that doesn't matter now.

The axis I fixed immediately, that's the reason it is not base coated yet. The windows on the other side ... I have to check later on that topic. I somewhere had a German scout vehicle "Fennek", a kit coming with some plastic windows. I think I will use some of those.
That is the reason the roof is still not glued onto the vehicle ... hm. If that will every happen?

But now that the vehicle is ready to be finished, I have to give the whole thing to my comrade. And hopefully my North-Gallian peasants are no longer in need to bring their Gallian oranges to the next town all by foot after that.

Then I managed to finish the vehicles base. Sure, the whole process of gluing sand to it and letting it dry produced some lumps which totally screwed my very cool plan. But okay - I can't have it all, can I? The first test of fitting the vehicle to its new base showed that both fit together nonetheless and the lumps almost disappear beneath the vehicle.

Then I finally managed to finish the Engineer I was working on. That now makes FOUR Gallian soldiers being ready for deployment. Yes!

That's all for now.

See you on the next update!

Take care!
